Urbana on my mind
I’m still trying to digest what I experienced last week. Jim Lee, Mark and Cathy McGaughey, Cheryl and I went to St. Louis to peek in on Urbana 06. This is the massive mission event Intervasity has sponsored every three years since 1946 and has previously been held at the University of Illinois at Urbana. With over 20,000 college students expected, they deemed it time to move to a larger venue and commandeered the Edwards Dome and just about all the hotels in Saint Louis.
The greatest moment was walking into the dome the first night and seeing over 20,000 college student come together for the purpose of God’s mission. Wow! My most fascinating impression: I knew God was doing some amazing things among Asians Americans, but 27% of the antendees were Asian Americans!
