What does it mean to be prosperous?
This morning I was reading the story of Jospeh. Even when he was in prison for no fault of his own, Genesis 39:23 says, “… the LORD was with him, and that which he did, the LORD made it to prosper.” Two of my favorite verse have always been Joshua 1:8 and Psalm 1:3 where we are promised success or prosperity if we meditate day and night in God’s word.
Today, we seem to equate properity and success with material gain or advancement in our career. While those can certainly be forms of prosperity, I am thankful for being prosperous and successful in having a wonderful family, many friends, and the opportunity to influence the lives of others with God’s truth. I thought about that today as we celebrated Christmas with Cheryl’s side of the family. I may not have the largest bank account, but I am a rich man.
