If you wonder why I get so excited about reaching the least reached, if you secretly dream of being Indiana Jones, if you wonder about all those poor people who have never heard of Jesus, then I have just the book for you!
I’m one of those who read several books simultaneously stashed in various places around my life so there is always a book at hand. Often, I go back and read classics in addition to the latest books just off the press. Right now, I’m reading Don Richardson’s Eternity in Their Hearts written 25 years ago. This is like re-reading a great novel after several years and being just as absorbed as you were the first time even though you know how it ends.
Do you remember the mysterious Melchizedek who met Abraham after his victory over the alliance of kings? He was the priest of the Most High God before there were Hebrews and before there was a Bible. Did you know that there are documented cases of others just like him – men who suddenly pop up in history and speak of the true God even though they have no apparent connection with Jews or Christians? Did you know there was an Incan leader who spoke of the one true God and repudiated the idolatrous sun worship around him and wrote hymns that are eerily similar to many of our psalms? Do you know about the Karen people of Burma who have reverenced Y’wa since before Christ and who have stubbornly resisted the Buddhist and Muslim influences around them for centuries, and whose prophets said that a white foreigner would come to them with the lost book that would bring them back to Y’wa? This is fascinating stuff!
Join me each day as I share what's bouncing around in my head and heart. I wish I had time to sit down with each of you over a good cup of coffee, but at least we can thank God for blogs! Oh! I'll take the coffee, too, whenever I can!
