Before I say anything, some of you must have been praying for me. With all the computer struggles I had this week my computer was stable and connected to the Internet all day. I am beginning to suspect a virus and think I found it. Whatever, life is sweet right now and I am connected!
Christianity is not purely a private and personal matter. We are individual members of the body of Christ and must work together. This is why an important part of carrying out the Great Commission is networking. That’s how I spent my day here in Buenos Aires. Here I am in one of world’s truly great, beautiful and cosmopolitan cities and I spent the entire day in the hotel restaurant!
I started by going down for breakfast this morning and trying to catch my breath after this whirlwind of a week. I extended my stay in Argentina primarily to make two potentially valuable contacts. By 9:00 this morning I had made phone contact with both and confirmed the details. Two and a half hours later a group of four pastors arrived and spent the afternoon together in the hotel restaurant. One of them is a recently arrived missionary form Peru who has followed our ministry for years. The others have been using our discipleship materials or have taken courses from us through the Qué Dice La Biblia Bible Institute. One of them was in our conference in Kansas City three years ago. They shared some very good ideas with me about how we can continue working together to help more pastors learn a better and more biblical approach to ministry.
Two hours after they left, I welcomed to the hotel restaurant a man who our friend Tony Vasquez, missionary working with Muslims in Spain, has been trying to connect me with for some time. He has just returned to his native Argentina after two years in El Salvador as pastor of a church that was very close to us during my years there. This brother is a key leader in COMIBAM, the Latin American missionary network, a veteran missionary and internationally recognized missionary strategist. We had a great time sharing ideas with each and promised to stay in touch.
Right this minute – I’m NOT hungry.
