Hi! This is my chance to chat with you about anything that pops into my mind. That means it is usually unedited and unpolished, just like conversations with friends ought to be. So, grab a cup of coffee or tea and let's talk!

Jeff. It looks as though I came along late here, since it is already November 2008. What I wish to address is your answer to Keith Meredith on July 5th, 2008. I wanted to mention that your points sounded like something that was memorized from some theological seminary. However, it doesn't even make reasonable sense. The Bible says "those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart"(Matt 15:18), and "of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh"(Luke 6:45), which indicates that, just as those He made in His image, Christ's spoken words are from His heart. As it can be clearly seen, His Word manifests things. We also see in John 1:1 that God's Word is so much a part of Him that it IS, in fact, Him, just as your words are you. They cannot, at least in the case of God, be separated from Him. God is a trinity of beings, also one. John 1:1 says, "the Word was with God, and the Word was God." Then in, John 1:14, we read "the Word was made flesh." Of course, we know that this Word that was God was His spoken, manifesting self that made everything from the beginning, as well as being Jesus Christ Who was (is) God. The Word, which was painstakingly passed down accurately in the Bible, equates perfectly to at least the essential part of what God wanted us to have about Jesus Christ. We know it is not all the words Jesus spoke or all His actions (John 21:25). Scripture tells us that the Holy Spirit is a Witness to Christ Jesus. In the same way, God's Word is a witness (revelation) of Jesus Christ. Is not anything that is God (John1:1) divine? The Word (God's Word) was (is) God and therefore is divine.

I experienced this wonderment today. My friend and I are in Chicago for a month and got to ride the brown line train downtown today. Walking around with all the other people that were out and seeing the tall buildings was such a different experience than walking around in Kansas City.

Good and common question, Keith, but far too heavy to be treated fairly in a blog comment. Entire books have been been written to explain the answer. Basically, yes we can fall into the error of deifying the Bible. The Bible is to reveal Christ. The Word of John 1:1 and John 1:14 is unquestionably the same. Jesus is the living Word and the Bible is the written Word. This does not mean that the Bible is God! The Bible is the written revelation of God's truth and Jesus is the human revelation of God's truth. The Lord Jesus Christ (Messiah) is God, along with Father and Holy Spirit.

hey Jeff i had a question for yah (more like a couple), its kinda out of the blue, but i was curious what your thoughts were concerning the belief (i think we hold) that the Word of God spoken of in the beginning of John is the equivalent and equal of the scriptures that we believe to be inspired, is there a safe way to think about there maybe being a difference between the words of God and the Word of God like when job said i esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food? (and his book is the oldest) or do we get into there simply being a dispensation difference. and one more thing do you think its possible to fall into the trap of deifying the bible or is that even really possible in the sense that The Word is Christ and there is no difference. Get where i'm coming from. just curious what your thoughts were.
