Will it never end???

March 19, 2010

What in the world is going on? I’m sitting here in Pennsylvania looking at the radar and Kansas City is ready to get slammed with another major snow storm. Good grief!!! I am a snow lover, but this is just over the top!

It was a gorgeous day here and we had a fabulous meeting talking about our fascinating and changing world. Technology is wonderful! This is the international board of Christar and we represent several different nationalities. One of our board members joined us from Hong Kong via Skype. We started at 6:00pm here and it was 6:00am tomorrow there.

Here’s what really concerns me. I have to fly home tomorrow night via Minneapolis. The weather there is not going to be a problem My flight is not scheduled to arrive in Kansas City until 11:30pm. Normally I would make it home around 12:30am. Tomorrow?? I need you to pray me home! Sunday is the day we begin three services.

    Hey Jeff,
I know this isn’t a reply to the blog entry (although I am very happy to see you made it safe and were able to get through the new service schedule) but I was wanting to ask about something and possibly make a suggestion.
Someone I like to watch videos of on youtube is Mark Driscoll, and I know that on the Mars Hill Church website they have a video series “Doctrine”.
I have found that it’s really a nice resource and have often pointed people I witness to online towards that series in an effort to help answer some of the fundamental questions that arise.
This venture we are doing with the “Directions” lessons is somewhat simular in application in that it gives structure and helps establish parameters.
With these two factors in my mind I was thinking about the fact that even though I have been through discipleship and have had a healthy dose of doctrinal teaching in ministries at the Temple, there are a few subjects that I don’t think I actually know our stance on (not completely anyways).
Has anyone ever thought about a place online where a person could ask about specific questions, and maybe consult our doctrine?
Not only would this help me to witness to young people I meet who have questions, I know that it would help me at times as well.
Sorry if this is a loaded question, but as one of the 25 people who read this blog (lol) I appreciate the platform.

Mark and Mars Hill are great! Your suggestion is great! The issue would be staffing with qualified people, most of whom are already up to the ears in important stuff to do. But, the idea has merit and I have taken note. Meanwhile, you don’t seem to have any problem asking me questions! When someone is searching for truth, I think the person to person approach is vital. Therefore, perhaps the best way to handle something is to say, “I’m not sure, but I can’t check it out,” instead of sending the person to the website. If you prefer, there are numbers of sites, like Mars Hill, that are already up and running. Keep one thing in mind, our position, our stance, our doctrine is right back to the Bible. This is the advantage of an independent congregation not affiliated with any particular group. We simply believe what the Bible says and don’t have to filter that through tradition. Obviously, there can be differing opinions on what the Bible actually says in some instances, but at least we are dealing with the Bible! Thanks again!
