I’m Back!

September 5, 2010

Sorry to be late in giving you an update. The past fews days have just been nuts! But, I mean that in the best of ways. Here are some random thoughts and observations to catch you up. Tomorrow, I’ll try to get back to normal???

Thursday night I flew all night arriving in Houston early morning and KC late morning. Not much sleep, but other than that it was all good.

I had just enough time for Cheryl to pick me up at the airport, take me home and start washing clothes as I hit the shower. I got dressed again and then, guess what? That’s right! We headed right back to the airport to pick up Dave and Kathy Earley. Dave was our speaker this morning and I hope you were as blessed as I was.

Friday evening we took them on a brief tour of KC and then had dinner at the Plaza – a very KC thing to do. By the time I got home that evening, I had no gas left in my tank to do a blog post.

Saturday morning I was trying to do some very practical things, like paying bills, catching up on some email and all of that. We picked up the Earley’s for lunch at the Rozelle Court at the Nelson Art Museum. Ever been there? You are missing out if you haven’t.

I had discovered that Dave likes art and he was thrilled to be able to eat lunch in such a neat environment and then walk around for a couple of hours to check out the art. This was our first time to really go through most of the building since the most recent changes have been made to the older building. Cheryl and I determined we have to go back soon to spend some quality time there. We were amazed at some of the changes. We are privileged to have such a treasure here in Kansas City. As an art student, Dave was well aware that the Nelson ranks in the top ten of American museums.

Saturday night we had the pastors and their wives over for a BBQ dinner at our place and had a blast sitting outside on such a gorgeous evening. Then we came inside, talked, shared hearts and had a time of prayer. Again, it was late by the time we got the Earleys back to their hotel.

This morning, even with a bunch of folks out of place due to the holidays, I was encouraged by all three services. In all three professions of faith were made and believers challenged to share their faith in a normal and natural way.

Whew! I’m still out of breath. I’m looking forward to doing nothing tomorrow. It’s been a while.

Next Sunday we start a new series and I am very excited. It’s called Glass Ceilings: Eliminating Obstacles to Growth. You don’t want to miss this. This week I’ll try to set the stage.

I’m still getting reports from Lima, Peru that God is really stirring things up. What a great week we had!I’m going to try to post some pictures on FaceBook for you to see.

Kansas City, Missouri is a great city! I talk about it and the metro area everywhere I go. I mention the art museum, the Plaza, the WWI Museum, Jack Stack’s, Union Station, the Symphony, the Steamboat Arabia Museum, etc. But the really crucial things to me are 1.) Sheridan’s Frozen Custard 2.) Hy-Vee, 3.) The Bath and Body Work’s store in Independence, which has fragrances they don’t have in Denver.

See? There’s more to love about KCMO than you thought! :-)
