Greetings from Europe!
Hello everyone! I finally surfaced. You might have wondered what happened to me since it’s been a while since my last post. I am in Europe and will be for a few days yet to come. I’ll explain.
A year ago we had planned to use the month of October at Graceway to do some things with the Take It Home initiative. However, the opportunity arose in the serendipity of the sovereign God to move ahead with the transition to a small group church a bit earlier than anticipated. I already had commitments lined up here and needed to follow through. I miss not being at Graceway for this month of Transformation but I know that I have left you in good hands.
On the 8th of October Cheryl and I flew to Madrid, Spain and from there took the train to Valladolid where Steve and Ali Baker, Graceway global partners, are leading a church planting team in this beautiful city that was once the capital of Spain. We had a wonderful meeting with them and their team. Our goal was to encourage them and get an educated look at the situation they face. We had some good discussions about ways to communicate the Gospel in the contemporary Spanish context and I think it was a profitable time.
Following a couple of days in Valladolid we took the night train twelve-and-a-half hours to Paris. There we welcomed a group of eight people from a like-minded congregation in Monterrey, Mexico with whom we have had a relationship for many years. They are participating with me in the first ever Spanish language edition of the Amsterdam Seminar and had asked if we would spend a few days with them to show them around Paris. How do you turn down an invitation like that? I certainly don’t claim to be an expert tour guide of Paris, but for those who don’t know any better I can really put on the razzle dazzle!
We all took the train to Amsterdam yesterday and today welcomed the rest of the group to Amsterdam – 18 of us in all. So if you hear anything on the news this week about The Netherlands breaking diplomatic relations with Mexico, it’s probably our fault.
They leave next Thursday and the very next day we welcome the English-speakers from Graceway. I promise to try and keep you informed!
